Ideas for Instagram Posts

In the past I’ve talked to you about the importance of different social media platforms (you can find the article HERE) and why you should join them as a writer.

I don’t know about you, but when I started, they’ve got me confused – Instagram particularly. All my friends used it for selfies, landscape pictures or quotes. I wanted to use it to make myself know! You probably want it, too.

I admit: as it happened to many persons before me, I fell into the stereotype and post the sort of pictures mentioned above. But, I realised it and came up with some ideas. I want to share them with you because they’ve helped me as a writer.

Here’s a short list:

(since Instagram is all about pictures I’ll only say “with …”)

  • With poetry
  • With quotes from your book
  • With quotes from famous writers
  • With your sayings (Ah, I know you’re a little philosopher!)
  • With small scenes from your book
  • With the blurb
  • With a summary of your blog posts
  • With advice/motivation
  • With landscapes
  • With selfies/group pictures etc.
  • With your book covers

And don’t forget to use appropriate hashtags! I’ll also write a post in the future about the power of hashtags and which ones are the best for you. If you use Instagram, my username is rebecca_radd (HERE).

Did you like the list? Be sure to let me know in the comments below. If you have any suggestions I’d love to hear them!
