In the past I’ve talked to you about the importance of different social media platforms (you can find the article HERE) and why you should join them as a writer.
I don’t know about you, but when I started, they’ve got me confused – Instagram particularly. All my friends used it for selfies, landscape pictures or quotes. I wanted to use it to make myself know! You probably want it, too.
I admit: as it happened to many persons before me, I fell into the stereotype and post the sort of pictures mentioned above. But, I realised it and came up with some ideas. I want to share them with you because they’ve helped me as a writer.
Here’s a short list:
(since Instagram is all about pictures I’ll only say “with …”)
- With poetry
- With quotes from your book
- With quotes from famous writers
- With your sayings (Ah, I know you’re a little philosopher!)
- With small scenes from your book
- With the blurb
- With a summary of your blog posts
- With advice/motivation
- With landscapes
- With selfies/group pictures etc.
- With your book covers
And don’t forget to use appropriate hashtags! I’ll also write a post in the future about the power of hashtags and which ones are the best for you. If you use Instagram, my username is rebecca_radd (HERE).
Did you like the list? Be sure to let me know in the comments below. If you have any suggestions I’d love to hear them!
